The size is in dispute and the county number is the one with a document behind it. The appraisal district's public data file puts the park parcel at 1.59 acres.2 The city says three. That is close to double, and it changes what you expect to find when you walk over.

The 1986 opening date rests on one uncited sentence on the city's site.1 The land itself was set aside as a reserve when the section was platted in 1977, so the park is the older thing and the playground is probably the 1986 part.

Park maintenance, broken equipment, mowing and lighting are all Public Works matters. Parks are on its list of departments.3

The other city parks

Humble runs three more, all a short drive.4

Schott8510 Will Clayton Drive8 AM to dark
Uptown308 Main Street8 AM to dark

Hirsch opens an hour earlier than the rest. The city describes its parks as "equipped with trails, playgrounds, pavilions, native trees and flowers, picnic tables, and more", without saying which park has which.4

Still open

  • Whether the playground has been rebuilt since 1986, and when
  • Which figure is right on the acreage, and whether the city is counting the drainage reserve next to it
  • Whether the park is reservable for a party, and how. The city publishes a pavilion rental for Schott Park and nothing for Timberwood.
  • Whether any youth sports leagues here use the park
