What is available

Xfinity (Comcast) serves Humble and runs two stores here, on FM 1960. Its published Humble pricing starts at $40 a month for 300 Mbps on a new-customer offer with autopay and paperless billing, against $75 everyday, and $45 for 500 Mbps against $85.1 The same page carries the caveat that matters: "Restrictions apply. Not available in all areas."1

AT&T Fiber is available "in parts of Humble, TX", with "speeds up to 5 Gbps where available", and AT&T tells you to "check fiber availability at your address to see which plans and speeds are offered in your area".2

Nobody publishes street-level coverage, so the only real check is your own address on each provider's own availability page. Numbers floating around for this ZIP code come from broadband comparison sites that earn a commission on sign-ups, and this Record does not carry them.

What that means in practice

The asymmetry is the real difference. Cable gives fast downloads and comparatively slow uploads. Fiber gives the same speed both ways. AT&T markets its fiber as "25x faster upload speeds than cable", comparing its 1-gig upload against the 35 Mbps upload it says cable gigabit plans provide, which is a seller's comparison and not an independent one.2 For streaming and browsing the two are hard to tell apart. For video calls, backups, security cameras and remote work, they are not.

Almost everything specific to this neighborhood:

  • Which streets in Timberwood can actually get AT&T Fiber
  • What neighbors are paying after promotional pricing ends
  • Whether any fixed wireless or satellite option is genuinely usable here
  • Real observed speeds rather than advertised ones

Fiber availability by street is trivially known to whoever has it and invisible to everyone else.
